Why this Matters: Affordable and accessible childcare is an important factor to the nonprofit workforce to increase employee retention and a more robust hiring pool.

Call to Action: Email legislators to protect childcare funding

S1460, a bill to fund the Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP), will be up for a final vote on Wednesday, the last day of the legislative session.

If this funding is not approved, it will:

• Increasing financial strain for both providers and families alike.
• Increase wait lists, leaving struggling families who need child care to remain in the workforce without any support.
• Limits the ability of the state to implement new federal requirements aimed at improving quality and accessibility to child care.
• Reduce opportunities for Idaho to meaningfully address our current child care crisis.

The Idaho Senate has already voted in favor of this bill, but it still needs to be passed by the Idaho House of Representatives. Please contact your state legislator to ensure they support Idaho's child care needs.
