Leadership Development

For Executive Directors, CEOs, and Upper-level Management 

Idaho Leads: Nonprofit Leadership Development Program is a cohort-designed program for nonprofit Executive Directors and CEOs to learn crucial leadership concepts unique to being a leader of a nonprofit organization. It will be packed with learning opportunities, peer bonding, and other leadership growth opportunities. The program includes:
  • two-night retreat
  • four — six coaching sessions
  • three (virtual) group meetings/classes

Cost to Participate:
  • Members: $650
  • Not-yet-members: $750

The value of this program – over 12 hours of development, food and lodging, coaching, and classes – retail for over $5,000 per attendee.

Outcomes

Why participate in this program? Participants will walk away with a better understanding of themselves, their unique leadership skills, and the tools needed to be effective leaders in their communities and organizations. Objectives include:
  1. 1. Self Discovery as a Leader: deepen your understanding of your leadership style and identify your strengths and weaknesses.
  2. Build an Effective Culture: create an effective plan rooted in DEI to strengthen your team’s culture resulting in higher productivity and less employee turnover.
  3. Manage Personal Effectiveness: learn crucial time management skills, delegation, and tools to manage burnout.
  4. Develop Your Public Narrative: leverage your personal and organizational narrative to win minds and hearts and mobilize the community towards change.
  5. Navigate Conflict: learn to navigate difficult situations and conversations to create the best possible outcomes for all parties involved.
  6. Lead Through Change: practice authenticity, vulnerability, and risk-taking; and learn to effectively lead your staff and board.

More Information and Expectations 

Participants are expected to participate in the following events to successfully complete the program.
Overnight Retreat: 
  • two-night, three day retreat at YMCA Camp at Horsethief Reservoir​
  • Lodging: All attendees will be split into cabins and shared based on gender identities. Bathrooms will also be shared.
  • Transportation: Attendees will be in charge of their own transportation (carpool lists can be created)
  • Food and beverages will be provided
  • Attendees may bring additional snack food or drink (including alcoholic beverages) as social/networking time will be built into the schedule

Coaching Sessions: 
  • Participants will be paired with one other member from the retreat to work together with a coach on a monthly basis.
  • Coaching is highly tailored to the needs of each participant including personal development goals and organizational challenges.
  • Four to six coaching sessions will be held virtually via zoom or in person depending coach’s and/or participant’s geographic location and availability.
  • Participants are expected to come prepared with topics to discuss and are encouraged to send agenda items to their coach in advance.

​Cohort Meetings: 
  • Three virtual classes will be held after the retreat and led by a subject matter expert.
  • Each session will be highly interactive and cover one of the following leadership objectives

May 19-21 | Nonprofit Leadership Retreat
  • 2.5 day immersion, program introduction. INC will send a full preparation and schedule for this retreat in early May.

About the Facilitators & Coaches

Rob is a professor of human resource development where his teaching and research focus on organizational psychology and behavior. He uses this as a framework to help build sustainable systems and initiatives with his clients. ​With over 15 years of significant hands-on experience in leadership, management, and organization development, Rob helps nonprofits and other businesses build effective teams.

RETREAT FACILITATOR
Angie became fascinated by human behavior after observing people’s behaviors in the Operating Room when she worked as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST). She was fascinated by how the leadership in this environment (surgeons) affected the entire team and ultimately affected patient outcomes both positively and negatively. She has a Master’s in Human Resource Development and is certified in the DISC assessment model. ​With her authentic and nurturing approach, Angie’s contributions include board effectiveness, board development, and executive board leadership.

Nonprofit wrangler. Board border collie. Professional people herder. Some of the titles nonprofit maven Kari Anderson wears running Incite! Consulting, a boutique coaching and consulting practice. What's her niche?  Building nonprofits up. From the inside out.   What’s her superpower?  Kari is a recovering nonprofit executive.  During her 20+ years in the field, she served seven nonprofits in Washington and Colorado in various leadership roles.  A seasoned board member, she has served on boards in seven states focused on health, athletics and education.  Having served as both staff and board, she’s got the scoop on what it takes to run a healthy, vibrant and visionary business, all while having some serious fun!  A Montana native, Kari is based in Coeur d’Alene, ID and Jackson, WY. She brings the office and toolkit to her client, and works with nonprofits to support people, increase revenues and rethink strategies to move missions forward.

Mike Krause is the Chief Coaching & Consulting Officer with Global Bound LLC, working with nonprofit leaders, their talent, and boards to harness mental performance hurdles in order to enhance psychological wellbeing in-and-out of the workplace. Global Bound’s approach emphasizes the importance of understanding our wellbeing indicators and the foundational needs necessary to cultivate an engaging and thriving life. Mike works with leaders to craft and implement tailored solutions for organizations and their workplace culture.

Jan Salisbury MS, MCC is President of Salisbury Consulting, Chair of a Vistage Peer Advisory Board and a Key Executive Peer Advisory Board, and the founder of Leaders Who Coach.  Her collaboration with clients in diverse industries such as health care, high tech, manufacturing, nonprofit, education, financial services for over 30 years has culminated in a passion for developing leaders and their teams with the most advanced executive coaching strategies. She is a credentialed Master Certified Coach focusing on “closing the gap” as leaders and organizations learn talent strategies. As a coach-facilitator, Jan Salisbury focuses on building highly-accountable teams, creating cultures with a growth mindset, and challenging organizations and their leaders to embrace change.
