It's Not Too Late to Develop Your 2026 Fund Development Plan

According to a 2014 study of small nonprofits, the number 1 indicator of fund development success is having a fundraising plan. In this hands-on session, attendees will learn the elements of a strong fundraising plan, consider their capacity to accomplish various tasks, and create a framework for their 2026 plan. Attendees will explore the top 3 donor motivations for giving to their organization, the messaging that resonates with those motivations, and the best fundraising methods. Attendees will also plan their pipeline for occasional donations, annual giving, and major gifts and their stewardship activities for those donors. Attendees will leave the session with a draft 2026 fund development calendar, a generosity map, and a plan framework.

A Board Member's Guide to Fair and Compliant CEO Compensation

The honor of board service comes with significant responsibilities, and few are as challenging as setting CEO compensation. Get it right, and you strengthen your organization’s reputation, ensure legal compliance, and retain strong leadership. Get it wrong, and the risk is public criticism, regulatory red flags, or losing the people driving your mission forward. This workshop is designed for board members who are looking for practical tools to make informed decisions about CEO compensation.

The Top 5 Hiring Mistakes Nonprofits Make—And How to Fix Them

Hiring the right people is one of the most important—and most challenging—responsibilities nonprofit leaders face. Limited resources, urgent needs, and small teams often lead to rushed decisions, unclear expectations, and missed opportunities to attract strong candidates.

In this practical session, TalentSpark will share the five most common hiring mistakes nonprofits make and strategies to avoid them. Attendees will learn how to define the ideal candidate profile, align the hiring team, take a more proactive approach to recruiting, and create a clear game plan for each search.

Participants will leave with actionable tools, interview frameworks, and a more structured approach to hiring that leads to higher-quality hires and less time spent recruiting.

Grantwriting: Chaos to Clarity

Even experienced grant teams lose time chasing old narratives, data points, and attachments. This workshop focuses on creating a single, master grant template that brings everything together in one place. Participants will center on building a living document that captures core language, metrics, and supporting materials used across funders. The result is less reinventing, more consistency, and faster, clearer grant writing every time.
