“...it brings awareness to what the nonprofit community in our area can do. What it comes down to is regular people just giving a little bit,” says Christy Markham, Director of Development and Marketing of the Coeur d’Alene Salvation Army Kroc Center. We sat down with Markham to chat about working with other nonprofits to increase their reach and support their community as a whole. Idaho Gives is more than a fundraiser but also a friend-raiser.

“Idaho Gives is so much fun. One of the most fun and most easy ways to fundraise. I really get a kick out of seeing the [leaderboards] and all the other Idaho Nonprofits,” said Pocatello Free Clinic Executive Director, Kristina Pasquella-Jordan. The Pocatello Free Clinic is a health clinic that addresses vital community health needs to community members, no matter if they are able to pay or not. Pasquella-Jordan and team started spreading the word for Idaho Gives a month in advance, and continued promoting their nonprofit leading up to the event. “Board members and employees were encouraged to share the link with 5 friends and 5 family members and for each individual who raised a large amount was recognized for outstanding advocacy in the community.” They also advertised over “social media, newspaper, posters, and the local KISU radio station and events calendar.” “I can’t imagine why anyone would not want to do it,” said Executive Director of MCPAWS, Amber Kostoff, about Idaho Gives. Every year hundreds of nonprofits participate in Idaho Gives, and every year hundreds of nonprofits showcase unique ways to raise funds the day of. Last year MCPAWS – a humane, no kill, animal shelter in McCall – raised over $13,000 during Idaho Gives. Kostoff shared her experience from years past. On the day of Idaho Gives, Kostoff got together with other local nonprofits in the heart of McCall to set up booths that promoted and informed about their unique organizations. A puppy kissing booth was set up for folks to visit and possibly adopt available dogs. |
