Does your nonprofit organization have an upcoming event and need volunteers? Maybe your office is looking for a volunteer to handle some administrative tasks a few hours a week. No matter what your volunteer needs are, VolunteerUnited.org can help you reach Idahoans looking to get involved.
The Idaho Department of Labor’s volunteerism branch, Serve Idaho, and the seven United Ways across the state teamed up to offer VolunteerUnited.org as a free, statewide resource for all nonprofits in Idaho. “This is a tool for building relationships,” said Hannah Staller, United Way of Treasure Valley’s volunteer and special events manager. “It’s a tool for casting your line out there and drawing people in to your work and showing them what’s so special about your nonprofit organization.”

Boise, Idaho's Interfaith Sanctuary is an overnight shelter that serves 164 men, women and families with children each night. It was created in 2005 by an assortment of faith-based organizations united in one common goal: Alleviating suffering and sheltering people who had no home and were forced to sleep on the streets of Boise.
Since then, the shelter has transformed into a vibrant and proactive advocates for the most vulnerable citizens of the city, extending their services beyond just providing a shower, clean bed and a hot cup of soup. A big part of this growth in supportive services is thanks to a forward thinking dedicated staff who has made key community alliances with Boise State University and local businesses which has dramatically changed the outcome for many who enter Interfaith Sanctuary. Even Stevens is a sandwich shop with a cause. Our mission is simple, we work hard to make a positive difference in our neighborhood, while bringing people together and giving them delicious food. Simply put, our vision is Eat to Give.
For every sandwich sold, we donate one to a local non-profit in the community. In Boise we work with St Vincent de Paul, Boise Rescue Mission, The Idaho Foodbank, and Corpus Christi House. By providing these non-profits with food we enable them to reallocate funds into other programs so they can continue the amazing work they already do in the community. While Even Stevens isn’t just local to Idaho, each location works with four community-based non-profits in order to make the biggest impact possible. |
