Best Practices: SOLE

SOLE hosted a community outreach event at Idaho Port Authority that was very successful. Webb mentioned that “this day gives the opportunity for area nonprofits to come together in collaboration with Idaho Gives. It encourages folks [and] our stakeholders to come out and support their favorite nonprofit, and maybe learn something new about another nonprofit they aren’t as familiar with.” Webb knows that since Bonner county is big, sometimes collaboration is a challenge, however, this is the perfect opportunity for all the nonprofits to come together and do so.

Free Nonprofit Analytics Support

Business analytics is all about using data to achieve business goals. Nonprofits need this at least as much as large businesses, but often lack the skills or time and can't afford a full-time hire. That's where we come in.

Boise Analytics' mission is to make expert analysis support accessible to organizations on a project-basis. They do this by connecting data professionals with organizations for part-time projects during nights and weekends.

To validate which data professionals are a good fit for paid projects with Boise Analytics, they facilitate small pro bono projects as a proving ground. Nonprofits get projects finished for free, data professionals have an opportunity to volunteer in their communities, and Boise Analytics efficiently learns who to offer paid projects to -- win, win, win!

A good pro bono project takes between 5-10 hours of work and can be completed in three weeks or less -- don't worry, they'll help you figure out what makes sense. Some examples of possible projects could be:

  • Developing, sending, and analyzing a customer survey to learn how your organization can improve.
  • Organizing existing customer data into a more useful format for ongoing management and referencing.
  • Building cases for grant applications using data visualization.

If you're interested in getting free analytics support, please fill out this brief survey. Boise Analytics is excited to get you connected with a data professional soon!
