Stay Tuned Here 2020 CensusEvery 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a headcount of every person residing in the nation. The next census occurs in 2020 and will determine the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and how $675 billion dollars are distributed to local communities. A successful census depends on strong community engagement and participation. Part of that effort are Complete Count Committees. Complete Count Committees (CCC) are made up of a broad spectrum of leaders that are trusted voices within their communities. They organize, plan, and implement a localized campaign to promote participation in the 2020 Census. Some counties and cities have already started their initial planning, working collaboratively with the Community Planning Association of Southwestern Idaho (COMPASS). Currently, Partnerships Specialists have been active throughout our region meeting with local governments, elected officials, and community-based organizations. They are available to provide information about the 2020 Census and training on how to form a complete count committee, providing technical guidance on upcoming census operational activities.
