Earlier today, City of Boise Mayor Lauren McClean announced that she will sign a public health emergency order requiring everyone to wear face masks in all indoor and outdoor public spaces within the city’s limits. According to the mayor, there is tremendous support from businesses and health care for this order, which will take effect at 12:01 am on Saturday, July 4. In order for a mask to be effective it must completely cover the nose and mouth. There are some exceptions for children under the age of five, on-duty first responders, or those with health or communication concerns. If you do not already have a mask, disposable masks will be made available at the City of Boise Mask Giveaway on Friday, July 3 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at two locations:
Here at the Idaho Nonprofit Center, our team continues to work remotely and plan to do so for the indefinite future. We strongly encourage all nonprofit employers to continue to allow employees to remotely work if there is no compelling reason to return to the office. You can read our return to work policy if that is helpful to you. We must do all we can to protect our friends and neighbors. Remember that wearing a mask is the kind and neighborly thing to do. The scariest part of the virus is the rapid transmission from asymptomatic people. You may not have symptoms but have the virus. Wearing a mask helps ensure you are not unknowingly spreading the virus. If you need access to PPE for your office, remember there is a resource through the state of Idaho, and for nonprofits without the budget to pay for it, there’s a resource to acquire PPE for free. Please also join the Idaho Nonprofit Center and other nonprofits and businesses and sign the One Idaho pledge. Have a safe, happy and healthy Fourth of July!
