The mission of Jesse Tree is to lead the Treasure Valley on preventing eviction and homelessness by supporting our neighbors at risk of housing loss, empowering them to stay in their homes.

Thank you to Development Manager Hannah Sharp for sharing your work and for your service to the nonprofit community.

We love featuring our members! If you are interested in highlighting your organization, please complete this form.

What does a typical week look like for your nonprofit?

Every week our Housing Crisis Line operates (thanks to the help of our dedicated volunteers) M-F from 9a-5p. This is the intake point for all of our clients and services we provide. Our Case Managers spend each week onboarding new clients, collecting documentation and every Friday they gather as a team to issue checks to landlords. Our program manager and legal externs spend most afternoons in virtual eviction court, providing assistance to tenants who are going through that formal eviction process. We also have a Development team that focuses on communicating our programs and services, working with donors and writing grants to keep our funding steady. We all check in together as a team and update each other on project status each Monday and Friday.

How has your organization evolved over the years?

We have evolved SO much over the past 2+ years. Starting when our Executive Director Ali Rabe came on in 2018. From 2019 to 2020 our organization grew from 2 paid staff, to 8 paid staff. We have added more case managers so that we can assist more clients and administer more funding. In 2020 we served the same number of individuals that we served in 2017, 2018 and 2019 combined.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face day-to-day?

Some of our biggest challenges right now are awareness! We are here and ready to help, continuing to work on fundraising, community partnerships and building/improving our programs, but we are still missing people who need help with rental assistance and are ending up in eviction court or informal housing!

What is one thing you wish your donors/general public knew about nonprofit work?

How much we love it! Everyone here has the biggest heart because and they truly care about the work they are doing. We are all here because we want to make our community better and we want to prevent homelessness for our neighbors.

What have you benefited most from your INC membership?

Connection! It's so great to use INC as a resource for so many things, and to be connected to other nonprofits.

Why did you decide to invest in an INC membership?

Resources! As a medium size nonprofit we love the support INC gives us for resources to use.
