Member Highlight: Treasure Valley Artists Alliance

“Idaho has not had an organization that offered the number of exhibition and educational opportunities to local artists, and our online exhibitions are a unique opportunity for emerging artists.” – Angela Stout, President of Treasure Valley Artists Alliance (TVAA)

TVAA started out as an organization that provided local artists with exhibition space and educational general meetings. With the help of past president, Theresa Burkes, they are offering educational opportunities for their members including workshops on creative techniques and professional enrichment.

Voted in as president in January, Stout has seen TVAA’s presence has greatly increased in the community and online. They’re even reaching a younger demographic.

Stout is especially excited about the partnerships they have gained with other local organizations.

“Our first online exhibition brought in non-members from across the country. Now we have new partnerships with the Gem Center and the Nampa Civic Center and the other Nampa-based activities NAC has brought to TVAA,” says Stout.

Don’t miss the two exciting projects coming up for TVAA:

The Facts, Fictions and Lies at the BSU Student Union Gallery is a program “to encourage artists to learn to eloquently write the narrative that is inherent in their art work.” The selected artists will be working with Idaho’s Writer in Residence, Christian Winn. “This is the first time we are integrating narrative writing with visual art.”

The Fremont Street Walkability Project, headed by Jesse Bateman with the Boise Central Bench Homeowners Association, is teaming up artists, business owners and the community to beautify the Boise Bench with large-scale murals.
