Framing an issue is about creating language, exploring shared values and appealing to the broadest possible public support. You do this by tying frames as broadly as possible to people’s existing belief systems and worldviews. The goal is to frame the issue so it’s about something the majority of people agree with and care about. This normally means appealing to their deepest values. There are many places where we can find common ground and common values: family, work ethic, responsibility, commitment, sacrifice, and duty, just to name a few. In this highly active and experiential workshop, you will explore principles of effective issue framing and messaging, primarily through building values bridges and crafting impact stories. You will discover approaches that resonate with the broadest audience for potential donor cultivation and organizational visibility.
